Overview

The Cubmaster is ultimately responsible for Pack programming and implementation, supported by the Pack Committee, which is responsible for resources and preparation. He or she is the key "direct contact" leader, master of ceremonies, and heads up (with support from and delegation to) all events and activities involving Pack 5 youth. Job one is safety. It is his or her responsibility to be familiar with all BSA policies and procedures, and to make sure they are followed.

The Cubmaster is also the "face" of Pack 5 to the public and potential new recruits.

Many different personality types have successfully served Pack 5 as Cubmaster; all have made positive contributions to the program, and the key to success is leveraging your own skills and knowing who you can depend on in a pinch. One common denominator is that the Cubmaster must respect and work well with a group of boys who span quite a range of maturity, interests, and abilities — from those just out of Kindergarten to those entering sixth grade.

Pack Meeting Agenda

Although Pack 5 does have a "typical" sequence of events for Pack Meeting agendas, an ongoing evolution toward more "signature events and outings" in the structure has meant a degree of variability. There is also topical content that means a different sort of approach depending on the month. Following is a sampling from past agendas for reference (password protected, see Cubmaster or Pack Committee Chair for access).
