Overview
Pack Committee: Decision-Making

Program Planning for Pack 5 is a joint responsibility of the Cubmaster and Committee Chair, which our Charter Organization (Advent Associates) has setup as co-equal positions.

Decision-making here and at Committee Meetings, then, is not subject to "vote" among those in attendance (which could lead to confusion as to "Who gets a vote?" during meetings open to parents, representatives of the host schools, et cetera, as well as skewed decision-making based on less-invested individuals who may otherwise vocally advocate Pack direction on which they, themselves, are not subsequently willing to contribute time- and money-wise for follow-through.

Advent Associates has vested authority for Pack 5 Leadership to these two positions, expecting that the Cubmaster and Committee Chair will agree on necessary decision-making. It is expected that it will be a rare occasion where the Chartered Organization Representative will be called in to "break a tie."

The safeguard against other voices "not being heard" is that, of course, the success of a Pack depends on a well-populated Pack Committee and committed Den Leaders, involved parents, and positive ongoing relationships with the schools and other places where Pack activities are held, as well as the people with whom we interact. Thus it is important that the Cubmaster and Committee Chair remain respectful and responsive to these interests, even at times where their desires and needs cannot or should not be met.
